"Traditional "double-walls" consist of a canopy covered by a rain-fly. Most single-wall shelters feature just one fabric layer, usually a waterproof/breathable laminate. Top-of-the-line single walls are among the highest quality and most expensive available. Since they're light, compact, and easily pitched compared to double-wall models, these are the shelters of choice on mountaineering expeditions where wind and snowstorms are fierce. Good vents are essential on single-walls because they are prone to heavy condensation. The best single-wall are seam-taped; those that aren't require zealous sealing and maintenance." AESS and MFPS products designed and manufactured by PAC RES GRU are single wall shelters. Fully and stringently seam taped, as per the requirements of Sympatex. We use only the best quality components in our products, many of which are easily recognized brand names; such as Easton, MSR, Cascade Designs, YKK, Crank Brothers, and Schrader-Bridgeport. Some will wonder about the full or total weight of our systems, but one has to remember and compare the full performance spectrum of our products against those whom compete against us. When you purchase an AESS or MFPS product from us, it is fully capable of functioning in the temperature ranges of 40° C/104° F to -40° C/-40° F. The AESS and MFPS products have been successfully used with a wool blanket and rain coat, a single fleece blanket, a pair of Ranger blankets, a summer weight (10C) sleeping bag, a 3 season (0C) bag, two US Army issue wool blankets, a down-fill Arctic bag (-100C), and only the clothing worn by the user at that time (which has been simply "skivvies"). We have, over time struggled with the decision of what should be included (not to mention 3rd pary suppliers whom promised but could not supply) - but now that the results are in, we know that you can literally use whatever you got, and succeed. As of now, when you buy an AESS package from us, you'll receive: shelter, compressible stuff sack, repair components, dual action manual pump, peg pairs for snow, normal and rocky terrain in a mesh storage bag, and use and care card. What you choose to sleep in inside the shelter, what you choose to use under the shelter, if at all, in cold and extreme cold environments is purely up to you. And that is because some of us sleep warmer than others and some of us never experience cold spotting. The end result is lighter initial package and plenty of options for you, the user. And that is, after all, what it's all about, is it not? One must also note that our product has Optimal Beathability, that they are 100% windproof, 100% waterproof, 100% bio-degradeable, 100% recyclable and will last a minimum of five years, even if you use it every day that you own it. Over the past five years, our AESS and MFPS products have been utilized by military personnel in all seasons, weather and conditions, and in a myriad of locations including Canada, the Arctic, the United States, Iraq, Afghanistan and Mongolia. There have been many design changes and improvements of mateirals in that time, resulting in the lightest and most capable versions to date. But never at any time has one of our products failed to perform as required, as advertised. One should also note that when the day comes that their AESS or MFPS product no longer functions as stated (and it eventually will), that one can "recycle" it back to us and receive a 25% discount on the purchase of a similar or better product. Guaranteed. Sincerely, Stephen Jacura, President/COO |
